Pizza stone directly on platesetter?

I am going to make my first attempt at pizza today. I have read alot of tips and recipes. I am going to try dough from scratch and I have one question. Should I put the pizza stone directly on the plate setter or should I put small spacers between them? Thanks!

  • Slap-Yo-Mama,[p] I think you want the stone almost as hot as you can get it ... so I would place it directly on the PS. The only issue to watch is to let it have plenty of time to heat fully prior to placing the pie. I have gotten impatient in the past and the stone was not up to temp .... tends to create some condensation and burn the bottom.[p]Regards,

    Slap-Yo-Mama,
I use the little green feet that came with the bge as spacers between the plate-setter and pizza stone. Works great!
    Notice them in the photo.[p]BGEphotos069.jpg

  • Tiger Tony,
I put my platesetter on legs up and put on a cooking grate with the stone on top of that. No more burnt crust with raw toppings for me!
    Give it a try

  • Considering doing pizza in very near future. Where's everyone getting their pizza stone from? BGE dealer or other source? I have a clay one but don't think it will stand up to heat from BGE.
