14 People coming on Saturday. Need ideas on what to serve.

We have 14 people coming for a get together on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. My wife doesn't want to serve anything smoked. That eliminates brisket, ribs, and pork shoulder. Actually my wife isn't to too crazy about chicken as an alternative.[p]People will bring a dish to pass, but we are furnishing the meat. Any great ideas on what to serve?

Shrimp, shrimp and more shrimp. You can get 10 to 12 skewers with 7 or 8 shrimp each , 21 to 26 count, on the egg at a time. Takes about 3.5 min. per side at 375 dome. You can keep up with a lot of people eating a lot of shrimp if you get the first batch cooked befrore you start serving. Just season them with your favorate rub, marinade in Italian dressing for a few hrs or overnight if possible. Cook, remove and spritz with "I can't beleve its not butter" and then squeeze a little lime juice over them. Turns out great everytime and very quick cook. Good luck with whatever you cook. Pop

marinated pork chops or kabobs. These are all grilled or roasted
so you can add wood smoke if you want or not. What kind of
sides are folks bringing? That might help you decide what
to serve. Just some thoughts.

I must say most games at parties can be boring..but standin round watchin someone pass a plate..a little slow..I'll admit..but still..the build up..the tension..and always that nagging question....will it come out sideways like some kinda really slow freaky frisbee...or git stuck flat an build up pressure like you read about....if it wuz me I'd draw an eyeball on the plate...but that's just me...always lookin to do somethin just a little bit out of the ordinary ya know..[p]StumpBaby

I don't esp care for smoked food. I make all those things you eliminated without smoking them and they turn out great. Put them back in your repertoire![p]Gwen
