REMOVING THE RING

OK, another dummy question: With all the custom firebrick, stacked grill expander set-ups, and all that you veteran Eggers have devised to maximize performance and capacities...it would seem that to make room for it all, that the ring above the firebox has to come out sometimes to accomodate your ingenuity! Is this the case, and if so, does taking the ring out to allow stacking of brick, deeper rack systems, etc., compromise the life and health of the Egg? Thanks, again!!

    Big Murth,
I never remove the fire ring just stack additional cooking grids on top of each other. YB showed me his method of inserting S/steel carriage bolts around the exterior of the upper grid and let bolt ends sit on the lower grid. Works great.
