Today, I am a Man!
Well actually it was yesterday. I picked up my LBGE at the dealer and with the help of Mr Stike assembled it quickly and painlessly. Also, I had been building a table for my BGE in my spare time for the past couple weekends and, though I'm no craftsman, it came out allright. Now the two come together and I am psyched![p] Later that day I (over)cooked my first steak on it. As I noted in an earlier post the kids loved it and the wife did not- but she will come around.[p]Today we had some family over and I cooked up some fine scallops wrapped in bacon and some sirloin tips- everyone was happy! Folks started congregating around the Egg and soon the work surface was filled with platters of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and corn that was being shucked. I didn't think there was that much room.[p]I am still a bit slow at learning how to control the temperature, but it came a little easier today. Anyhow, I've been lurking here for awhile, picking up lots of good advice and copying recipes so hopefully at some point I will actually be able to contribute something.[p]How do you post photos?

Flashback Bob,
wow.
jumping right in there, bob. [p]i hope the scallops worked betterfor you than the steak.
did they have that same off flavor you were noticing on the steak?[p](i suppose i could just wander over to your desk and ask you....)

stike,
I'm not in work this week so you can't just drop by to annoy me.[p]The scallops and tips both came out great! No off-flavor but I didn't need to keep the tips on as long as I did. The scallops were on for about 30 minutes at 400. Bacon wasn't pre-cooked so some of it was crisp while other parts were rare (like where two big scallops were squished together on the skewer).[p]A good feed was had by all!

Flashback Bob,
i forgot you said you were out....[p]glad they came out good. nice recovery after the steaks. if the second meal was 'off', you might find yourself in panic mode.[p]"i spend 900 bucks on my grill set-up and it all tastes like crap..."[p]

stike and Bob,
and here I thought you two worked side by side - or at least at spittin distance from each other!

Flashback Bob,
When I glanced at the post "Today, I am a Man" and then the handle - Flashback I though dam he got bit already?[p]After a complete weekend of egging it was late Sunday afternoon when I fired up the large for chicken and the small for some corn. The lump in the large was fresh and she was just getting up to around 350 when I thought I would give the grate a quick brushing.[p][p]Kapooooooof...yep she was letting me know that I was way to comfortable (or cocky). Oh, and the current lack of hair around the eyes is real sexy![p]Good luck and don't live up to your handle!

RRP,
bob is saddled with building the edifice which yours truly slapped together.[p]...and now i'm as far away (on this floor) as i can get from the team. that way, they can't spit without getting up and coming over, which gives me time to get away
