I'm in the market for an Egg. I'm a backyard barbequer and cook for two people 95% of the time; on occasion I cook for four.[p]I cook mostly steak, chicken and fish; and I'm planning on an occasional slow cook roast.[p]Based on your vast experience, should I go for a medium or large egg?[p]Thanks for your help deciding.

RonT,[p]Go for the Large and fill in the other sizes later. Been cooking on a large for just me and the little woman for 7 years now. Other's come by from time to time and there's always plenty of room. My second Egg is a mini.
  • RonT,[p] LARGE !! I cook almost everyday, but only for my wife and self. The Large is so efficient that there is really no issue with lump charcoal, temp cotrol, etc. You will appreciate having the cooking grate area for grilling parted chicken along with other foods like corn-on-the-cob, roasted peppers, etc. Savings to a Medium is normally very little. [p] Unless you have really serious space issues or need to move the BGE around a lot, a LARGE is a great choice.[p] If I ever have the consistent need for extra grill space, then a Small or different charcoal grill will do very nicely to supplement my Large BGE.[p]Good luck ![p]Tom B (EggSport)

  • RonT,[p]You've seen all the reasons. Get a Large, you'll love it!
    Good eggin'

  • RonT,
Go for the Large. I had a Medium in the begining but switched to the large. What a difference. Much happier.

    RonT,
the size and shape of the large gives the best options for cooking IMHO. once you have one, you will be doing much more than an occasional roast or regular grilling. your cooks will change as you find out what kinds of food this egg will produce and the quality that it puts out.

    RonT,
Pretty strong consensus that large is the way to go. I hadn't considered efficiency in my thought process.
Thanks everyone for your input. I'm looking forward to bringing this thing home and this site is a wealth of information as reference. Thanks again, happy cooking.
