pizza stone

Well, I have piddled around til I have no time left. (Actually, I have a good excuse as I was out of town for a week helping an ill family member, came home, she died two hours later, so had to spend the next week handling details, then back to AZ for plan and attend the funeral, etc., and it's been hectic. Plus I was in shock when she died as even tho she was very ill, it was still unexpected.)[p]We're hosting a family reunion which starts next Thurs and are planning on bbq salmon and pizza for Fri night. The last time I bbq'd pizza I used the platesetter but I have since trashed that by letting stuff drip on it. Where can I get a pizza stone for my large BGE by next Fri?[p]Thanks,
Gwen

dimplesmom,
Why your friendly knowledgable local dealer of course - best prices and friendly service can't be beat![p]Sorry to read about your loss.

Smabada,
Called my dealer and they are holding the last one til I can get there next week.[p]Thanks,
Gwen

dimplesmom,[p]Sorry about your loss.[p]I read where you have a stone on hold so let's go back to the plate sitter. When you say trashed I assume not broken but just yucky with drippings right? I'd merely scrape off any heavy stuff and then fire up my BGE with the dirty side down and bake the crude off. At least it worked for me. Thereafter I always put a piece of foil down when I know there will be grease or sauce dripping on the sitter.

Condolences as well.[p]And you could also put some parchment paper on your platesetter.

dimplesmom,[p]Sorry about your loss.[p]A very good pizza stone is a ceramic kiln shelf availableost ceramic hobby supply stores. They are 6 sided instead of round but them and the BGE stones are the only ones that have lasted with me.[p]Spin

Herm,
That's a good idea. I use parchment paper a lot for other things.[p]Gwen

RRP,[p]Major drippings. Lumpy and everything. I was surprised it has never cooked off. I use foil now over it so it won't get worse. I don't know if I've tried putting it dirty side down, so I'll give that a go next time I have it going.[p]Gwen

dimplesmom,
Just buy some of the metal pizza pans with holes in them. Use these on your inverted place setter9 legs down). Good luck, Tom
-
Bajatom,[p]I thought inverted was when the legs were up! No wonder I'm such a lousy cook![p]Gwen

d,
It might be that inverted is when the legs are up. Which came first the chicken or the egg. What is the meaning of life. The inverted question belongs with the great questions of all time. LOL, Tom

dimplesmom,
just scrape the stuff off with a putty knife and you're off to the races
