Japanese yakiniku?
I would like to try to imitate the Japanese grill in my large BGE (see the flickr link below). My questions are:[p]1. where to get a grill/grid like that? I went to HomeDepot and picked up a gutter guard. Unfortunately, I think it's made out of galvanized steel, and I read they release toxin when heated... :( So, I was thinking maybe one of those cookie-cooling-grid? Are they safe in the fire?[p]2. I am thinking to get very close to the charcoal. Can I remove the fire ring and put the cooking grid directly over the firebox? I think the grid will be ok?[p]Any thoughts? Thanks ahead for any comments.

<p />waruwaru,[p]Here is a picture of "expanded steel" aka "expando". This is stainless, but it also comes in plain steel, but that is prone to rusting. It comes in a variety of sizes (based on the dimensions of the diamond) and gauges and can be cut to fit for a variety of cooking applications. On the left the profile is "regular", the right is "flat". Check with your local steel center, steel recycler or welding shops. Ask for a "drop" which is piece leftover after a full sheet has been cut. That way they won't try to charge you a cutting fee.[p]A rack over a shallow drip pan
