Thin Texas barbecue sauce recipe wanted

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Many years ago, I lived in Austin, Texas. We had great barbecue there, particularly brisket and sausage. It was usually served with a thin barbecue sauce that was brown in color, runny like vinegar based sauces, but definitely not vinegar based. It was very flavorful and perfect for the brisket and beef sausage.[p]I have never been able to find a recipe for such a sauce. Anyone out there know what I am talking about? I would love to find such a recipe, and I think this is the place to look.[p]Uncle Milt

    Milt Oberman,
I sometime water down some BBQ Sauce to serve as a basting sauce on items that need it to keep from drying out. I think it adds a bit of flavor too. Maybe they just used very thin sauce.[p]Spring "Thick Headed, Thin Walleted" Chicken

    icemncmth,
Yea, I've added vinegar too but most of the time I just use water and it seems to keep the original sauce flavor better.[p]Spring "BBQ Is Not Just A Breakfast Food Anymore" Chicken
