Just got back from Thanksgivng trip to my Granny's house. She is 80, lives by herself, is THE best country cook I know, and doesn't own a cookbook. She had 40 people at her house for Thanksgiving dinner. All were her family (Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren) and their spouses, but this is only about half the number of her desendants.
Anyway, my contribution to the gathering was two turkey breasts which I had brined (for 24 hrs.) and smoked on my lg. BGE on Wednesday night (300° over a drip pan with a handfull of pecan chips). Everyone raved about how moist ant tasty the smoked turkey was. But the best was when my Granny told me how good she thought it was. My wife had to grab my shoestring to keep me from floating away.
It is successes like this that make all of the trial and errors worth while.

Chipper,
Like you say "It is successes like this that make all of the trial and errors worth while."[p]Just makes you want to do more cooking! Seeing people, especially great cooks like granny, enjoying your food (often to the point of raving), makes it all worthwhile, and just motivates you that much more.[p]Congrats on the blue ribbon cook, and your successful Thanksgiving.
