Grid Lifter and Heavy Duty Cast Iron Cooking Grate

Just picked up a new cast iron cooking grate .... no grid lifter yet. Any good or bad experiences using a lifter with this heavier grate? I'm ready to pick up something now.[p]Regards,

<p />Tom B, I use a pry bar asa grid lifter and it works great. It will pick up the grid while loaded with food.[p][p]

Tom B, I use the ash tool also, but handle side touching the grate. The handle is stronger.

Those listed below are good. Whatever you do, do NOT use a Lawn Ranger Grid Lifter for the Cast Iron Grid...I did this weekend and I should not have. Don't get me wrong, I love my LR tools, but the weight of the large cast iron was too much for her.

I really appreciate your comment as this was one of the tools I was likely to add soon. I agree, these are solid tools, but this grate is just very heavy and should be handled accordingly. Sorry about your experience, but I will use it to guide my plans for the future.
