My chicken is cooking as we speak...

I am new to the egg. I am cooking a 6 pound brined beer butt chicken. It's been on for 2 hours and 40 minutes at around 250 - 275 degrees. How can I tell if this suckers done? I put in a thermometer and it only goes to about 145. Where am I suppose to put the thermometer? I just jabbed it in the breast. I have heard that it should be 180 degrees. Help!!! My bird is a cookin...

    160* breast, 180* thigh. Seems you got about another 1 hr+ left to cook. Too check try moving a leg if it moves easily it is done if it gives resistence , needs more time.
