Expanded Metal Fire Grate - Just made one

The first one worked great, but the holes were a bit bigger and I was losing a lot of my smaller lumps through the bottom. This one will solve that. They work great! Really increase the airflow.[p]I had to buy a 2x4 sheet of the stuff so if anyone else is interested let me know! They're easy to whip out! I just cut them with the 'ol dremmel tool and then hammer the edges around the original fire grade so it give the grate that sort of rounded lip so it'll sit well in the firebox.[p]:)

I hade my local welding supply center cut me one made out of stainless steel.....tremendous increase in air flow, won't rust, and no ash buildup......

GenesGrill,[p]ya... i tried to find stainless... but in my little town - no one has any, and to order online i was going to have to get a full 4' x 8' sheet for over 200 bucks.[p]the carbon steel works great... and given the cost, if it rusts i'll just cut myself a new one.[p]but ya... the increase in air flow is awesome.
