Two Big Dogs and Pork
Cornfed
Posts: 1,324
I'm still working through my Two Big Dogs sauces from Eggfest and am enjoying the results. Last week, I thought it worked well on wings and thighs as a replacement for my usual buffalo wing sauce for those. The spicy chipotle bite was a nice complement.[p]Yesterday, I got out of work a little early and decided to throw on some baby backs for a change from my usual pork spares. Did these indirect for 3.5 hours rubbed with a combo of Slabs rub and Turbinado sugar. Then I sauced them with Sweet Baby Rays, raised the cooking temps a bit, then did them for an additional 1 hour and 15 minutes. These were nice and sweet like I like them, but I then dipped in Two Big Dogs every now and again for a nice contrast. I think I still like sweeter sauces better on ribs than something like this one, but this was a perfect occasional dipping sauce to complement the sweet.[p]Tonight, I have some thick cut pork chops going with the sear then roast method. These are also seasoned with Slabs and will be served (to me, by me) with some more Two Big Dogs.[p]I'm really liking this stuff. Good work, JimW & Co!

Cornfed,
That sounds pretty tasty. I put some Two Big Dogs original on a pizza a couple nights ago (just squeezed some on top of the cheese) and thought it was pretty good. Did you notice it has anchovies in it? I hate anchovies but can't argue with the good taste of that sauce. See ya!

hayhonker,[p]Hmmm....I hadn't noticed that. And now you have me thinking about bbq pizza at 7:30 in the morning....[p]Later,

Cornfed,[p]I looked at the Two Dogs site a week ago when I first saw it posted on the forum but not much info. What does it taste like? Vingear based or sweet ketchup based? Is it hot and spicey. I gotta be a little selective when buying sauces as the kids aren't into some stuff I like.[p]Thanks,
Howard

hayhonker,
The anchovies are an integral part of Worcestershire sauce.

Howard,
It is catsup based and not too sweet. It has some kick to it so the small kids may not like it as well as a sweeter sauce.

Cornfed,
Thanks for the endorsement. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Cornfed,[p]Thanks for the great review! We have a great time trying out on new things but ribs and pulled pork are where it shines. [p]I've got a test batch of ribs on right now and I'm still not tired of the stuff. [p]KenW
