I will be doing a low and slow this weekend....but it's supposed to rain. Awhile ago I saw a home made rain shield but I cant remember who made it. Any ideas on keeping the rain from snuffing my fire???

A 7" shanty cap from Lowes will do the job just great!

Rick G,
Unless it is a monsoon you should be alright.[p]For a rain cap what folks have posted pictures of are vent caps. I've seen others with their Egg in a table have an umbrella attached to provide an overhead cover (probably not a good idea if a storm brews up).

dhuffjr,
Yikes I just noted the price for that thing. I'd think you could find something similar at a Lowes or Home Depot for less than that.

dhuffjr,
Right you are: expect to pay $10 or less. (For the real budget-conscious, you can poke holes in a tin can and invert it over the opening.)[p]Ken

BlueSmoke,[p]Yikes! is right. I got the same vent cap at a local Ace and I think it was only 5 or 6 dollars. I also have an umbrella that does quite well.

Rick G,
I use one and it works great. If I even think its going to rain I slap it on top. It fits right over the daisy wheel.[p]Doug

Rick G,
If you're like me, too cheap and lazy to go to the store, just make a bonnet out of aluminum foil and crimp it onto the daisy wheel.

Essex County,
i do a tinfoil tent. lift the daisy handle vertical, crimp the tin foil on the handle with the extra foil 'legs' leaning over to the side, maybe tucked uner the rim of the daisy if it's windy[p]i did the cut-up coffee can trick, which hopefully someone might post a pic of...

fishlessman,[p]It seems to me that to keep the dome temp to 250F or below, the daisy wheel is barely open a crack. Can't see how that would let in enough rain to do anything to the fire.[p]Now keeping a BBQ Guru dry in the rain, that's another issue. :-)
