I know that salt mackerel are not the best fish for your health, but have any or you tried smoking salt mackerel after a good soaking. [p]Chef Jerry

I've never smoked salt mackeral, but I have smoked spanish mackeral with great success. I follow the procedures outlined on the website called "Three Men with Nothing Better to Do." I have used the mackeral in their fish dip recipe. It's great.

    Jwirlwind,
dont know about the salted ones, they just dont sound good to me. smoked, baked fresh ones chilled, make a great substitute for tuna fish sandwiches. thats the only way ive enjoyed them cooked. fresh they make great bait, you can catch something eatable
