the enclosed worked well for me. There is no special reason to do it on an egg other than the fact it was fun.[p]Go to the grocery store. Buy 6 different types of apples. Part of the fun of the subsequent recipe is to figure some way to keep them apart and remember which is which. [p]Core, but don't peel the apples. Stuff the core with a mixture of mostly brown sugar, oats and raisins. Place the apples in a dish that you can place in the egg (I used individual pyrex dishes). sprinkle more sugar, oats and raisins around the apples. Pour vanilla syrup (i use the stuff you get for coffee) down the center of the apples, then a little more. Place a pat of butter on the top of the apple in the center. Cover the apples with foil,
Place in egg going at 300 degrees on top of stone, firebrick or plate setter for just less than an hour.[p]Take from egg, uncover, add scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve immediately.
This works well with a crowd that doesn't mind sharing plates or utensils, as each different apple will taste different, some substantially so.[p]
