indirect set up -- ring in, platesetter up / down?

How do you set up your egg for an indrect cook?

I have been leaving the fire ring sitting on top the fire box then resting my plate setter with feet pointing up.

But my set up doesn;t leave too much room. I wonder if I should remove the ring and use the plate setter legs down.

Any thoughts?
