Do you really need 2 eggs?

I suggested another egg to my wife and she was surprisingly agreeable. I have a large and was looking at another large. Hmmm. I’ve read the discussions on this and I know that many people compliment the large with a small. However, if you could get another large for the price of a small, would you take two larges over a large and small or is that a no-brainer? I am currently building my large into a permanent home. I suppose I could make it bigger to house both, or just let the second one roll around on the patio.[p]What should I do?[p]Thanks,[p]Ed

I have a large, and at the Eggs by the Bay I will be adding another large. I don't need a portable grill, what I want is the ability to have a low and slow going and still do steaks for dinner that night. Or sometimes I cook pulled pork for a couple of hundred people and it would be nice to be able to just cook once rather than having to do it in two shifts on my single egg.

Ed in TX, I don't need 2 eggs, but I have 4. [p]If you get another large, then you'll have exactly twice as much of everything that you have now. If you frequently find yourself needing quite a bit more space, then getting a large for a bargain makes sense.[p]If you get a small, you get a different cooker. If you frequently find you not only don't need more space, but you don't need all the space on your large, the small might be a great compliment. I cook on my small much more than my large. I take my small on picnics, camping and vacation. I wouldn't try it with a large. [p]

Morning Ed in TX:[p]If the wife is allowing a second egg, don't waste time asking us what size! Just go get any size! Seriously, I currently have 3 eggs (2 large and 1 mini) and last evening had all three going for dinner (see the link below to the post from yesterday). I am quite happy with the two large combo as it gives what I feel is the most versatility and capacity. [p]The two large are currently just sitting on the floor on my patio, but just this week the contractor is starting the slab for the outdoor kitchen that probably won't be totally finished until late May (long lead time on cabinets and countertops). I will post pics when it is completed.[p]Have a GREAT day!

    Ed in TX,
No, you do not need two eggs. You will eventually need more than two. [p]You are doing the correct thing by planning ahead. If you can get a large for the price of a small, then by all means what are you waiting for? Build them both in and save room to roll other eggs around as needed.[p]Hope this helps,

  • Master Mason,[p]That's exactly what I elected to do, the 2 large combo can cover just about any cook situation. [p]I have them both built into my outdoor kitchen.

<p />Ed in TX,[p]From one Ed in Texas to another. More eggs are better, especially during March Madness.[p]I've found that I'll have one that's all vacumed out, loaded with lump, but waiting for a late night start for a lo-n-slo pulled pork cook, but with another egg, you'll still be able to cook tonights dinner. With a 3rd, you can do appetizers or pizza. With 5 you can pick up a quick game before dinner. LOL.[p]Actually, only 3 of those are mine, a large & a small were were brought home after the Texas Eggfest for someone who had to go out of town. It made for a neat picture.[p]Cheers,[p]Ed

    Ed in TX,
If you are getting a large for the price of a small you just can't pass that up.
