Creasote

I use a Klose offset but because of an injury I need a less labor intensive pit. I understand the use of the airflow under or on the side of the EGG, but is the top damper used to lower the temperature? I know that closing the chimney of an offset is a terrible idea, because of the after taste from creasote. Is this true with the EGG?

Woowoo Robinson,[p]Both the top and bottom vents are used to control the temp. The Egg does not create creosote or any other adverse smell. The lump charcoal (and of course any wood you add) creates a nice flavor.[p]Woody54

    Woowoo Robinson,
the egg is powered by charcoal lump, and the creosote is long gone, having been driven off in the process of making lump from wood.[p]if you have used an offset, you might enjoy the fact that after loading the egg with lump, you'll be able to sit back (and even sleep) while the egg chugs away smoking the stuff. no need to reload
