Morning All:[p]Finally got home for the day (after leaving Ocala we also had a church group picnic we had to go to this afternoon). Kathy (her new forum name, even though she hasn't posted, is EggHatter) & I had a GREAT time this weekend. Thanks to Tonia and Larry for all they do to coordinate the event, as usual everything was perfectly planned and went off without any major problems.[p]Below will be some pictures of our cooks this weekend and recipes for those that don't have them already.[p]Obviously the first thing we did Saturday morning was the "traditional" Sausage/Cheese Bread Roll. Here are a few pieces just before word got out that it was ready.[p]
[p]Sausage/Cheese Bread Roll[p]Ingredients:
1 -- 1# loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1 -- 1# breakfast sausage (Jimmy Dean Sage is our favorite)
12 oz. shredded cheese (we typically use cheddar, but anything is good)
2 eggs[p]Preparation/cook:
Roll dough into approx. 12" x 15" rectangle. Cook sausage. Mix cooked sausage, shredded cheese and eggs. Spread mixture on bread dough. Roll dough with mixture inside like a jelly roll and drop into a greased (Pam spray works also) bundt pan. Let rise in warm area until puffy (about 1 hour).[p]Egg setup is with platesetter (feet down) at about 375 dome temp. Place bundt pan on platesetter and cook until top is golden brown (usually about 35 to 45 minutes). Invert bundt pan onto cutting surface and then brush butter on all sides of bread roll. Slice and enjoy.[p]Next was a new recipe that my much better half got from the package of Bridgeford frozen bread dough. The original recipe was for a braid, but we did it similar to the Sausage/Cheese roll.[p]EggHatter's Almond-Chocolate Dream Roll[p]Ingredients:
1 -- 1# loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1 cup almonds, chopped
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup softened butter[p]Glaze
Mix together 2 cups powdered sugar with 1 to 2 tablespoons milk and 1 tablespoon Hershey chocolate syrup.[p]
Preparation/cook:
In a food processor, with a standard utility blade, chop almonds and chocolate chips until finely ground. Using hand mixer, add in sugar and butter until chocolate mixture is a paste. Set aside. Roll thawed dough into a approx. 12" x 15" rectangle. Spread chocolate mixture on dough. Roll dough with mixture inside like a jelly roll and drop into a greased (Pam spray works also) bundt pan. Let rise in warm area until puffy (about 1 hour).[p]Egg setup is with platesetter (feet down) at about 375 dome temp. Place bundt pan on platesetter and cook until top is golden brown (usually about 20 to 25 minutes). Invert bundt pan onto cutting surface and then drizzle glaze on roll. Slice and enjoy.[p]Here is the finished product![p]
[p]We also did the Peach/Blueberry Crisp that we have done each of the last two Florida EggFests. This recipe I originally got from Mad Max Beyond Eggdome in Sept. 2003, so all the credit goes to him for the inspiration.[p]Ingredients:
9 to 10 peaches
2 -- approx. 4oz. packages of blueberries[p]Crisp topping
2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon[p]Preparation/cook:
Peal and cut up peaches and mix with blueberries in a 9 x 13 pan. Mix together the topping ingredients and press on top of fruit. [p]Egg setup is with platesetter (feet down) at about 350 dome temp and cook for one hour. Remove and enjoy.[p]
[p]That was the recipes for the "out of the ordinary" items we did Saturday. I also did some pork tenderloins and thick center cut pork chops. Some of the pork chops I butterflyed and stuffed with crasins (dried cranberries) and cashew nuts.[p]Next is a picture of the Brie with pepper mixture topping on a cedar plank that Chubby and Anne did. This is just before it went on the egg. I wasn't able to get a picture of the finished product because I was laughing too hard watching Chubby try and put out the fire (the cedar plank caught fire and made for some exciting moments). The finished product was very good though.[p]
[p]Last and certainly not least is a picture of the Grand Prize Winner. Winner of a new mini was
Luke (lazydogsaloon) Salazar, shown with his son Daniel (who says it's really his new mini!!). Congrats Luke!! (and Daniel)[p]
[p]For those of you who couldn't make it to Florida you missed a GREAT EggFest and thanks again to Tonia and Larry for coordinating everything. See everyone (and some new people) next year![p]Have a GREAT day!

SSN686,[p]Any guesstimate on the toppings and cook time & temp on Chubby's brie? That looks like a good idea.[p]~thirdeye~
Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Morning thirdeye:[p]Not real sure on the toppings. I know it included red bell peppers, onions and scallions plus other stuff. Chubby will probably provide a better breakdown once he gets back to TX. As for cook time, it was about 10 minutes at 375 if I remember correctly, but since the plank really caught fire, it probably should have been about 30 to 60 seconds shorter. Chubby almost ruined my pair of oven mitts carrying the plank from my egg over to his table and then trying to put out the fire with the mitts.[p]Sorry I couldn't help any more than that.[p]Have a GREAT day!

SSN686,[p]Nice job with the pics and the synopsis of the day. Larry and I enjoyed seeing you and Kathy again, and thoroughly enjoyed all that yummy food you cooked![p]That's a great shot of Luke and Daniel. And no one deserves that mini like Daniel does (sorry Luke, but we all know whose egg it REALLY is!). That is one of the nicest young men I've had the pleasure to meet and he helped me with anything I needed ALL day long. He's going to make a fine chef one day.[p]Tonia
