<p />Today...[p]I decided to get back to what got me BBQ'ing in the first place...Pork Steaks....grilled hot and fast...slathered in Maull's!![p]As soon as I was big enough to move out on my own...I got my first Hibachi to grill on!![p]Hibachis weren't big enough to do Spare Ribs...so we alway's ended up grilling Pork Steaks...(sliced from the Butt).[p]bfd820c6.jpg[p]No rocket science here...just grill'em...flip'em, and bast'em![p]11335444.jpg
[p]When the Maull's is carmelized to your liking...eat'em!![p]fb6c569b.jpg[p]
Maaan!!! I had forgotten how good these are!![p]Evans[p]

dhuffjr,[p]No....[p]Counry Ribs, sometimes called... pork country-style ribs, pork country-style loin ribs, or pork country ribs, are cut from the "Loin"! [p]These have more meat than spareribs or back ribs, but they aren't as easy to eat with fingers. Allow 1/2 pound per person. They come boneless (pictured) or bone-in.[p]porkcountryribsboneless.jpg[p]Pork Steaks, sometimes called... Pork Blade Steaks, are cut from the "Butt".[p]They're a cheap and flavorful alternative to pork chops, and great for grilling!![p] porkshoulderroast.jpg[p]Hope this helps Dennis!![p]Evans

    Chubby,
Okay thanks... I've seen blade steaks.[p]H

  • Yo Chubby, If those pork steaks tasted half as good as they look, I bet they were mighty fine. I love pork steaks. That is what I cut my BBQ teeth on and it had better have Maull's on it all right! KC Masterpiece just won't cut it for pork steaks. I once read somewhere that the pork steak cut was invented in St Louis, but I dont know if that is true or not.[p]Go Redbirds![p]Juggy
  • Chubby,[p]For many years in my area, all that was available were the country ribs that were cut from the loin. Sure loved those ribs and I could usually purchase them for about $.99 a pound. [p]What we have available now are still called country ribs, Western ribs, and sometimes just ribs but on the package they do say that they were cut from the shoulder.[p]29MVC-014S.jpg[p]Some of these ribs will weigh above 1-1/4 pound each and although they sure are not a good as the loin ribs, they are still good eating. [p]29MVC-015S.jpg[p]I am like Mr Juggy and love them pork steaks and do them about once a week.[p]31MVC-004S.jpg[p]I have not heard of that Maulls sauce and which flavor would you recommend as I will have to mail order it to try on my pork steak?[p]Dave
  • Yo Dave, Those econo style country ribs look good. I can still get the loin cut country style ribs for $1.49 when the are on sale.[p]I won't speak for Chubby but if you want to experience the St Louis style pork steak effect, you gotta go with the original or what Maull's refers to as their "Genuine" sauce. Their description of this sauce states is made today the exact same way as it was in 1926. [p]I believe them. It's the sauce I grew up with and it tastes the same now as it did 40 years ago. And just like Arthur Bryants Sauce, you either like this stuff or you don't. I don't like it on spare ribs or back ribs, but if I am cooking pork steaks, I gotta Maull it. [p]E-mail me your address. I will mail you a bottle. [p]Lager,[p]Juggy

Maull's sauce?? Sorta new here to the forum, can someone please tell me where to get this sauce? I am always up for trying new ones, I am tired of most all the common brands you find in the local grocery. Thanks in advance.

Juggy D Beerman,[p]It does bring the memories flooding back...doesn't it!![p]I can still smell those St. Louis summers...with the Maull's burning on some spares or pork steaks!![p]I've had better and worse BBQ sauce than Maull's...but It's a taste I remember, and harken back to from time to time!!
    Sounds like you do too!![p]Were/are you a St.Louis boy?[p]Evans[p]Ps..."Smitty the Smoker"...he's also a big time CardinalFan!![p]

  • Juggy D Beerman,[p]You don' have to go to the trouble of mailing me a bottle of sauce as I am ordering a bunch of different sauces today and will include the sauce. Do preciate the offer though.[p]Will you be at the GAB in late May. Love to sit down with you and talk some old fashioned type cooking over a few brews. [p]Dave
