I mean first ammonia bath for Miss Daisy...how long must it sit? Will the ammonia take care of it entirely or will it need to be scrubbed too? Since I'm in the mood I have three grills soaking in hot soapy water in a garbage can lid.

    Miss Daisy has been in a pail for three hours now and I scrubbed it a bit with a stiff brush - GEE WATCH OUT FOR STRAIGHT AMMONIA that stuff will clear your sinus and cure anything that ails you! Much of the cresole has come off, but there is a persistent band which is hard core trouble. I think I'll let it sit all night.

    Since I have been egging for only a few months I did not realize that giving Miss Daisy a bath was necessary. After her bath are you worried about rust? Will you dry her off by putting her in Mr egg for a low temperature warm up?

    It appears you've figured it out! I usually let it sit overnight in a 30% solution, then scrub the dickens out of it the next morning. Rinse it off with clean water and dry it in an oven or a low temp cook. BTW, I usually put a drop of WD-40 on the center bolt, after everything is done![p]Cheers,[p]Dr. Chicken
