If one were going to fly from a great distance to attend a BGE fest, which would be the one to choose?[p]As there is a cooking class I'd like to take in Ashville, NC, are there any close by that location?[p]Gwen

dimplesmom,
Eggtoberfest is the granddaddy of them all. Waldorf Md's Eggfest is 467 miles away from Asheville (About 8 hours) and Atlanta is about 208 miles from Ashville (About 3.5 hours) according to my mapping software. [p]TNW

The Naked Whiz,[p]Where and when is eggtoberfest? Does it have its own website? I tried to google for some info but couldn't find any.[p]Thanks,

dimples'mom,
as the name would imply, eggtoberfest is usually the 3rd weekend in october at the mothership in atlanta. . .you will see a special link come the august time frame. . . [p]eggfest in waldorf maryland i 5/6 may. . .waldorf is about 20 miles south of washington dc. . .great time of year to combine a little egging with a visit to our nation's capital .. . the website link for this one should be pretty soon. . ..[p]and as you can see above, there are others scheduled for florida/ok/texas. .. . [p]they are all a blast, and each has its own personallity . .. to see some pictures from a few of them, you can go to the naked whiz's site, and also wessb has a large number of photos from both waldorf and atlanta at his site. .. www.wessb.com[p]come and join us!!! you won't be sorry .. .

mad max beyond eggdome,[p]Which fest do the most 'forumers' go to, if there is any one fest? I'm assuming a lot of them have a lot of outsiders, so am wondering if I'm just going to meet people from the forum, which would be the best.[p]Thanks,
Gwen

dimples'mom,
the core of every eggfest is forum members ....then there are the newbies that come to buy eggs and learn .... attendance at eggtoberfest is the 'biggie'. ..last year over 1000 people .. . . eggfest at waldorf runs around 200 folks. .. . i think the same for texas and the new one in oklahoma. ...florida is a little more intimate. . .. go into the florida fest site above, and see who's signed up so far. ...you'll see many familiar names ... .

dimplesmom,
My wife and I flew from Tucson to Eggtoberfest in Atlanta last year. The whole affair more than exceeded our expectations and we will definately be returning. -RP

dimplesmom,About a three to four hour drive from Ashville to Atlanta. Four lane or interstate most of the way. The Eggtoberfest will give you the largest group of Eggheads from all over, the largest variety of foods to try, a great meet and greet on Friday night, and a great social in the motel parking lot.
We have been to the last three, cooked, and had a fantastic time. Ate some great food and got some great ideas for new things to cook. Also my three adult daughters came this past year and had a blast.[p]Good Eggin' to You,

AZRP,[p]I would be flying too. I was trying to combine it with a trip to Ashville as I want to take some cooking classes there. Looks like it'd have to be a three-leg trip. I get companion passes on UAL but unfortunately they don't fly direct to either of those airports. May make more sense to do separate trips at different times of the year.[p]Don't know how hubby will feel about it tho. I don't think he cares for my little trips![p]I'm hoping to drag him to Dr. BBQ's class in Portland this spring. I casually mentioned it over the weekend to get him started thinking about it. Didn't mention it was an overnight. That's the kind of detail I usually just leave out all together. The excessive amount of beer he'll be able to drink during an all-nighter with Dr. BBQ should more than make up for it.[p]Gwen

dimples'mom,
You could fly into Charlotte and rent a car, come to think of it, that's what I'm doing tommorrow morning. Eggtoberfest was a blast, but go hungry. -RP
