Today’s Cook: Beef Eye Round Roast w/Guru

Once the rain clears out this morning I’ll be putting on a 6-1/2 lb. Beef Eye of Round Roast. It’s been marinating in the refrigerator for a couple of days after it got a good rub with Penzey’s Barbecue of the Americas rub. It’ll be the first time I’ve tried this rub, but it sure sounds interesting. It’s a blend of Coarse Kosher Flake Salt, Hungarian Sweet Paprika, Jamaican Allspice, Cayenne Red Pepper, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Thyme, Ginger, White Pepper, Korintje Cinnamon.

I’ve used my Guru twice – once with success and once with problems. First time was in the Meat Monitor Mode that worked great. Second time was in the Ramp Mode and that’s where I ran into problems. The alarm (LOUD) keep going off about 90 minutes into the cook and for the life of me I could not figure out why. I finally switched to the MM mode to finish the cook. Hopefully I’ll get that Ramp Mode figured out later this morning.
