What Rub?? For That Brisket?

Need some help from the veteran EGGsperts. I am planning to do a 5+ lb. brisket later this week. I would appreciate your ideas-suggestions (recipes) for a home-made rub for a brisket. I don't want to marinade on the first try. I want something to preserve the natural flavor of the meat while enhancing it. Is that unrealistic?[p]Thanks in advance for your help.[p]Anthony

Anthony Up North,[p]Here's one from Paul Kirk's book. I use it for brisket and pulled pork -[p]Sugarless Texas Sprinkle[p]1/3 cup salt
1/4 cup paprika
3 T chili powder
2 T black pepper
1 T ground cumin
1 T garlic powder
1 T cayenne (or less to taste - I substitute a teaspoon of chipotle powder)[p]You could also just stick with salt & pepper. I keep meaning to try that.[p]Cathy
