Transporting my Egg

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I've got to transport my egg about 30 miles down an interstate highway (moving back into my house after a post Katrina remodel woo hoo!!). Anyway, I've got a lg in a rolling table. What's the best way to transport my egg so nothing gets broken. Its only about a 40 minute drive but some of the roads aren't that great. Should I totally disassemble it and pack it all individually in bubbly wrap or just tie the whole thing down in a trailer and let er rip?[p]Thanks for any help.

    Conundrum,
Wrap the firebox and firering in bubble wrap and leave them in the base. Put all your accessories in the firebox and load it in the truck with an old tire between it and what you tie it to. Make sure you remove the daisy wheel and or rain cap![p]I would tie mine into the corner of the bed of a pickup with the tire in the corner.

  • Conundrum, I took my large to Fredericksburg this week. I removed the fire ring, firebox, grids and metal top and put the egg in the back seat of my truck. I had other things wedging it. I used cardboard between the seat and window to keep stuff clean and for cushion. The removed items went in a box and made the trip in the truck bed. No problems on the move. tom
