What are the pros and cons of aluminum and wooden pizza peels?[p]Thanks.[p]Joe

Gold Wing,[p]The metal peels are smaller, lighter, and more nimble. The finished pizza can very easily slide off the metal peels. The finished pizza will tend to stay on the wooden one much better. I have both types of peels and only use the wooden one.[p]Spin

Gold Wing,
Like Spin says the wooden peel is better for pizza but the aluminum is great for taking a butt off in one piece.

Gold Wing,
I bought a large alluminum one from a restaurant supply store and I really like the way it gets under the pizza vs the thicker wooden one. Spin is right about them being slippery though, bringing in a finished pizza last Saturday I just about lost it opening the back door. -RP

I prefer the metal for ingress and egress and then serve using a wooden one. To make my metal peel easier to control I applied a golf club handle wrap and I have a good solid grip now.

RRP, Yepper, that's my butt removal tool.

I have and use both. Build on the wooden one. Take it off with the metal one and put in on the back of the wooden peel to cut/serve.[p]Toy Man

Gold Wing,
While I've already told you my preference on the BGE is the metal peel I also have a Super Peel that is a neat gadget that I still keep inside.

Gold Wing,[p]Ditto to what Toy Man does.

Gold Wing,
i like my wooden peel. when it was new it didnt work that well(maybe my inexperience with pizza), but as it aged and got all scratched up with cutting the pizza on it, it got much easier to use.
