20 questions...
Ya'll are going to get so tired of me and my 20 questions....[p]Cooked burgers tonight..came out great![p]I have a cart, not a table, and got a patio stone under the BGE, could I have just used some tile?
Where can I hang my cooking "stuff" and can I leave most of it outside all the time and not worry about rust and stuff (if I have a cover over the egg and cart)
can I just store my plate setter on the shelf all the time..the weather will not hurt it?
Can I get a grill cleaner at lowes and it work just fine?
I have like a metal trash can to hold my lump...thanks to the dogs for chewing up my wood I got. Speaking of wood where the devil can I purchase that?
I called 2 different BGE dealers in the area and they are all closed till after the first of the year! T
his did upset me to a degree b/c this is my only time off till summer..I'm sure the next time I cook I"ll have even more questions

Arlene, I'll only answer a bit about wood for you. There are a few people on the forum that sell wood chunks or chips, and hopefully you'll hear from them on this list or privately. One seller I highly recommend is Greg Kemp's guava wood from Hawaii. I use guava wood only on pork and chicken and turkey now. Link below this message. Also the big box stores and most larger hardware stores carry hickory and mesquite chunks in my area. Since I don't know where you live, or if there are firewood dealers near you, they might be a source. Also, tree trimmers may have or know where you can get wood. Is there an orchard near you? I have one nearby that I can get apple, peach, and cherry branches, chunks, and sawdust. There is also a sawmill within driving distance that keeps a variety of woods for sale.
Hope this helps you!

emjazz1,
what is the difference b/t chips and chunks? I noticed the BGE dealer had bags of like shavings/chips and bigger chunks of wood....

Arlene,
i use chips, cuz it's what i have and i'm too cheap to buy the stuff.[p]i also use hardwood twigs.[p]chunks or chips i don't think you'll find anyone (on the BGE site) who can find a difference.[p]chips on a gasser need to be soaked. not a problem in the egg, since the fire is controlled. ...there's not alot of free oxygen/fire to ignite them all at once. your fire will spread and chips will smolder as you need them to, if you simply mix them into your lump.

stike,
Chips vs chunks and soak vs not is the endless debate with one answer that is always right......whatever floats your boat. I'm a nonsoaking whatever is available kinda guy. Mostly chips but chuncks on occassion. Its Friday and I'm off.....gonna have to grill some animal flesh tonight.

Arlene,

Arlene, chips, like it sounds "small cut up pieces of wood mostly 1-1.5 inches long and no more than 1/4 inch thick.
Chunks, about the size of a kids fist, some smaller and some larger. Think a pices of wood about 2 inches square, thats a chunk. If your near a Lowes you should be able to find some Cowboy Lump wich is fine for temp use. You can also find chunk and chips at the local super market near the fireplace logs and lighter fluid.

Mik of Alaska,

Arlene,
i dont use any cleaners, i clean by burning the stuff off the grill and scraping with a lawnranger tool, brass brush, or rolled up tin foil ball. you can order the wood chunks online, i do use some chips, but find the chunks more practical. also i have some wild concord grapes in the yard, the dried out grape clippings are good for smoking lamb. i also have a rosemary bush that comes inside in a planter during the winter, also good for smoking the stems after removing the leaves
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
