I lifted the lid of my new Eggtoberfest Large yesterday while cooking wings for the kids and the whole dome and hinge assembly came right off and fell on the deck. Luckily it didn't shatter. :S

I've tried to put the dome and hinge back together but I'm having trouble getting the two mate and seal properly. I need to spend some more time adjusting it but there are also a couple of small dimple cracks around the band 'lip' on which the bottom band tightens. I can get the bands on and start torquing the nuts but the bands want to slip right off again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The tightness of the bands appears to be the only mechanism holding the whole dome/egg and hinge assembly together. There are no other screws or other fasteners into the egg or dome that I can see. Is there a different design that might have more holding power?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions
