Inverted Platesetter - grate ?

I just purchased a platesetter from my local dealer. When inverted, is the grate ring supposed to fit around the legs sticking up? I have tried this and mine is about 1/16" to small to fit around. It sits on it at a slight angle.

I have another grate made by another company that I can sit on top but just curious if the BGE grate is suppose to fit.
