OT: For Those With Ancestors From The GWN

I imagine many of you are already aware, but for those who aren't, the Canadian government amended their citizenship laws last year by passing bill C-3. In a nutshell, this bill basically grants citizenship to non-Canadians who can show a direct lineage to a Canadian citizen, but you have to apply for it. 

We are in the process of doing this for my wife because if something were to happen to me, she'd immediately be able to move to Ottawa to be near our son and D-I-L. Her paternal grandfather was born in a small town in the province of Québec, and birth certificates weren't issued at that time, but baptism records were used. We had to apply for an official copy via BAnQ and that, along with her father's and her own birth certificates are pretty much all she needs to prove her lineage.

Anyhow, I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone finds it helpful.

🤣. I'd love to, but all of my ancestry comes from Germany and the UK, so I'd have to go through the naturalization process, which I'll likely do down the road.
