A small upgrade (maybe?) to my table top

Greetings- I had to break down and rebuild the top to my grill table, the wood was starting to decay enough that it was time. I rebuilt it using cedar as before, two coats of polyurethane top and bottom to keep out Midwest summer & winter weather. The upgrade was that I installed an Aluminum rail at the back of the last board to let my grill tools rest on something much more cleanable than just the wood. I used 3/4” x 1/2” angle iron/aluminum and routed out a channel on the piece of wood to accept the rail. Since the metal was so thin I decided not to flush down the screws, I was afraid I would drill too far and/or crack the metal. I did put a bead of silicone caulk in the screw holes in the wood to hopefully prevent water getting in. Not sure it was completely necessary but it was a fun project to figure out. Also included a picture of home grown peppers used for ABTs. Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Chris

After the Medium in its cart fell over a year and a half ago and I replaced it with a Large, I wanted to use the entire top of the old cart. Well, it had this good-sized hole in it. So I sanded the top, then glued 3/4" plywood on top and the hole was gone. Next, I ordered a piece of 16 gauge stainless steel from one of the on-line metal companies, cut to size and delivered. After roughing up one side of that and cleaning it well, I epoxied that on top of the cart.
Now I've got a very nice stainless top cart for my Mini and the Rocbox.
