New Bands and Butterflied Legs

After 15+ years, I replaced my bands finally with the new assembly. For those of you with the old nest handler like me, it’s perfectly compatible. The only minimal issue was the tiny bolts and nuts that are used to attach the nest handler to the back of the band. From the instructions, it looks like there should have been 2 slightly longer bolts that protrude out from the band… but all 26 of the bolts in the box were the same size. Not a big deal though, I was able to use the old uncapped nuts from the old assembly, because the capped nuts weren’t catching easily.

Gotta say, I wish I had done this years ago… the ease of opening/closing makes it feel like brand new. And it’s air tight as brand new. No more underbite!  There was no more readjusting the other bands — they were shot.

First cook on it since replacing the bands — some simple butterflied chicken legs. Hit the spot.  :)

I’ve been thinking about getting new bands for the large your review may make me pull the trigger. What max temp do you cook at? I got to 700F for pizza which always leads to re-adjusting for underbite.

I haven’t done a high temp in awhile, but to clean, usually 700+ deg.

Thanks for the post. I've been considering it also, since my original bands are really showing their age.
