For those of you who don’t receive news from the mothership in Atlanta the days of the Small and the handy little Mini are numbered…if not already d/o/a! Goodbye to my favorite little buddy sizes - glad I have mine!

Believe it or not, I received this email from BGE HQ earlier today about the Small and Mini.

"Your grill isn’t just a piece of equipment—it’s part of the moments that matter. That’s why we wanted you to hear it from us first: we are discontinuing the Small and Mini Egg models. That means your Egg is now part of a limited-edition lineup.

Why the change? We’re focusing on the tools that deliver the best grilling experience — and the MiniMax does just that. It has the height of the Mini, the cooking area of the Small, and the portability to go anywhere—tailgates, campsites, balconies, or as a backup at home. Compact, powerful, and ready for anything.

We’re proud of everything these models have helped our community create, and we’ll continue supporting yours, so you can keep making memories for years to come. You'll still have access to replacement parts and warranty coverage — so you can keep grilling without missing a beat.

The Small is quite a versatile cooker.  Had mine for well over 10 years.  Glad it is at least in the limited-edition category.

At 76lbs, will it go to the hernia doctor with you?

I got a small at an Eggfest about 13 years ago and liked it. But it didn't get used much because I mainly used my Large so I sold it to a friend. He has been happily using it for the last ten years and it meets his needs perfectly. I'm sure the BGE folks have considered this carefully, but I'd bet the Smalls and Minis out there will still be kept in service for many years to come.

Of my 6 Eggs 2 are MINIS.
I use my Larges most but if i had to get rid of all but one. The one remaining will be a MINI.

And i can’t lug that MINIMAX over 3 yards distance.

I have a small, mini, and large. The small is by far my favorite.

This is weird!  I leave for a little while and look what happens.  The Mini and the Small are discontinued!  That’s terrible!  I have a mini and I gave my small to my daughter & SIL.  The next thing you’ll tell me is the mothership changed the warranty rules!!

Well a small just popped up on Craigslist… guess I’ll see if I can grab it before someone else realizes it is a collectors item.

Minimax is portable in concept only.  Having both a mini max and a mini, nod goes to the mini.

I think the nod goes to a $45 smokey joe. Truly portable. You don’t have to worry about breaking it or if someone steals it. Cools off quicker too.

If we bring other cookers in, then absolutely.  Smokey Joe is great and can cheaply convert into a mini-Smokey Mountain also.

It'll be interesting to see how long Small and Mini owners will have to wait for warranty replacement ceramics down the road.

I've thought the same thing. I just assume we/they might end up having to deal directly with the Mothership. I know the email said replacement parts will be available, but we have to be realistic that we are dealing with 2 lame duck products and mentality that goes with that.

I always wondered what the blue egg people who bought under warranty have to do?

My Mini has one thing that I rather enjoy; it fits in my 10" CI skillet that I bought new in 1972. I use that as a basin for washing it in between cooks.
