RIP Jim Brandenberg

I lost one of my true mentors today. Jim Brandenberg was a Minnesota-based wildlife/scenic photographer who’s published ten books and shot for National Geographic for many years. I’ve attended two of his workshops in Minneapolis and one in the Boundary Waters area in northern Minnesota, where I also spent many, many weekends and Leave days when I was stationed at Grand Forks AFB.  Lotsa expensive film and mosquitoe bites! I have at least two of his books, and he’s renowned for his wolf tracking and photography in northern MN.
Here’s a write up and video of his life; anxious to watch the video when the news is done.

I just watched the documentary above about his 90-day project (just one shot per day for 90 days), it took me back, wow.  I have that book and it is indeed dog-eared (those were the days of shooting film, no internet, very little social life and 6-week summers (when I usually stayed indoors because of the mosquitoes!))
    A totally different life back then ('92 - '95)
