First Fish

Not the First Fish Ive cooked, Not the first one Ive caught...

Today was the day I caught, cleaned and cooked a fish.  I had never cleaned a fish until today!

Anyway it was windy out so instead of lunch bike ride I thought I'll go fish the lake down the hill.  First cast the wind blew my lure into a dock and lodged in the wood- lure gone.  Went back to truck planning to just leave and opted to put a new lure on.  Went back to pier to fish.

After about 25 casts of nothing I thought to myself, just a couple of more than back to work.  When Bam this guy hits.  Nice 18" Largemouth.


Well after being at this spot for at least a year and only catching a small bass and 1 crappie I was like oh youre going home.  Put him in the cooler on ice rest of day.  Watched a video on how to clean a fish and cooked this up.


Cooked it on the Pellet Grill as it was faster to get going @350 for maybe 15 min.  Butter, Lemon and some nice Seafood Seasoning.  Tasted good but learned a few lessons on the way.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.

    Definitely rewarded for stepping out of your comfort zone.  Great catch and execution.

    By April 1st this lake will be impossible to fish- Wake Boats up and down the stirring it up.  Can only be there at sunrise and there will still be 3 or 4 boats going by.

    there will be a hundred fishing boats in my secret spot a half hour before sunrise. im off the water by 10 when the jet boat and wake boat people wake up

    i can fish year long on the lake except for the salmon and spawning locations are closed to fishing during the salmon spawn.  there was only a few weeks of solid ice on my lake this year so i passed.

    Man, I grew up fishing for largemouth bass, crappie and blue gill. I remember the day my dad let me use the electric knife. My duty was to remove the rib cage with a small knife up to that point.

    There is nothing like fresh fish.
