Replacement Band and Hinge Assembly for pre-2008 BGE

I have a first first generation XL BGE (pre 2008). The band rusted and broke. I ordered from the local Ace Hardware a new band and hinge assembly.  The box says it is for XL BGE models made 2008 and later.

Any idea where I can get a new band and hinge assembly for a pre 2008.  I've emailed support@biggreenegg.com and have left them several voicemails.  I have yet to receive a helpful response.  All of the response emails are automated.

Rolllocks,Have a 2009 egg that is the same as yours I replaced it with the newest band, and I'm very happy with it. If you want you can have my old still in good shape. Just pay shipping.

Mine is pre 2008.  I got it the first or second year they made them.  Your 2009 model is different. It was made post 2008.

The print on the box MIGHT be a CYA statement. When I replaced my 2000 (but probably a 1999 or 1998 model) Large in 2023 the new band box said the same thing but with a little finesse it worked fine.

I’m thinking the same thing but it would be nice if BGE would respond to my emails and phone messages.  I don’t want to rip open the box and then have to repack it to only find out it won’t work and then have to try to return it.

Give @HannahGreeneEgg a chance when she gets back in the office after the holiday. She’s been helpful since she came on board.

Finally got a phone call back from customer support.  They told me that post 2008 language on band box was a printing error and to ignore it.  Seems like an odd printing error. They should put tape over it or add a label to the box advising customers to ignore it.

it does not work on my 2005 large, the new bands seem to be wider which makes a huge gap even after the bands are adjusted.   bands over lapping the lip on the ceramic. the gap is about the thickness of a ticonderoga pencil with a rutland installed.  i think the changed the bands and spring sizes several times starting in 2001 when the spring bands became available, had a hard time getting springs for my 2001, bge sent me an assortment because they didnt remember what they used that year. 2001 bands were made in mexico at the time, bge basically recalled them and honored the replacement on those for over ten years. floridagrillingirl had the last one still working on the forum several years ago from pics i saw. the handle was welded to the band, the only year they were welded on the spring bands
