Apparently, a year of testing wasn't enough.

These reviews always seem to be done by someone that never used a grill/smoker let alone an egg

It was a challenge for me to get past this part:

What is funny, is I bet that same is true for damn near every review out there.  People reviewing stuff they know nothing about.

That’s why I like forums with actual users.

It brings me back to an article about how to drive in ice and snow and the rear end is slipping/sliding. It didn't say how, it said don't.im thinking the journalist was born in miami

Heading out to get an ash pan. Stupid me bought an adjustable rig and a dutch oven, and a pizza stone to do 1200 degree pizza cooks with my non round bottom draft. So glad they never crack. Need to get a garage and a way to move this egg, someone should have told me I can't leave it outside in a snow bank back in 2001

And even if they are experienced...
ATK did a test of ceramic frypans a few years ago.  Most of them failed miserably, but I did purchase their Recommended brand (already forgotten, got it at BB & B).  They cooked eggs in the pan thirty times in a row, and still performed "acceptably"; so did I, that's one month of breakfasts for me.  By the two-month point it was trashed and replaced with another cheep T-Fal.

Wait, what?  If you don't have a "ash tray" you have to remove the fire ring to clean out the ash?  I use a Kick Ash Can as it's more convenient than using the Ash Tool, although either method is fine.  What is this "ash tray" for the Egg?  I think that is a KJ thing.

I guess that I’m an ash heretic pointing my leaf blower at the lower air intake to clean the Egg out. Of course I keep my Egg on concrete rather than a wooden deck.

I picked up a copy of an ATK book at the library this spring. I think it was "The Outdoor Cook - How to Cook Anything Outside Using Your Grill, Fire Pit, Flat-top Grill, and More" title.

In the section on charcoals they claimed that briquettes are much better as they light faster, burn hotter and last longer than lump charcoal. I put the book in the "to return" pile.

hey, I like my ash pan! It has the perfect lip on it to rest in the vent groove and nothing gets spilt.  i'm a sucker for simple but good design.

Looks like he's only cooked on that thing twice in a year with how clean it is, and how good a gasket is still there.

I would also add that CR has their biases, just like everyone else. They deny it, but it's often pretty obvious.
