Help! Fused gasket after Burn Out
WoodworkerBED
Posts: 58
I have a confession to make. This is the first time I have burned out my EGG after 4 years of fairly heavy use. Things seemed to go well until I tried to open lid. The gaskets are totally fused to each other and it is impossible to open up the EGG. Anybody else out there ever have this experience and, if so, what did you do?

A putty knife will get it open. Either base or dome side against the ceramic. Replace with a Rutland. Paging @RRP~ John - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

Thanks I will give it a try. Do you think some acetone would help?

been there, the old felt gaskets used to bleed glue thru them and sometimes water turned to ice and they froze. rrp's rutland gasket system seems to fix those problems

Never have seen the need for the high heater burn. Several BGE cooks that need the heat (steaks, paella, pizza) provide enough to keep the interior Q clean at least to my low requirements.
Given the four years, you now have a lifetime assessment.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

i cooked chicken thighs about 8 to 10 weekends in a row one summer on the camp egg, low and slow direct. the inner dome looked like caked flaky tar paper and it fell into a brunswick stew come fall i did the burnout with branches and cord wood. havent had to do this since but what and how your cooking does play a part
