Amount of green showing between bands?

Greetings-
I have installed my Rutland Gasket (thanks @RRP) on my new replacement base which means I have to move my original/box springs hinge and bands to the new base. I located the original Mothership video for installing the old bands but the red/blue spacers may not be much help since the top has no gasket - how much green of the base and lid should show above & below the bands to create a good seal? Any rules of thumb or links to pictures/videos would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Chris

Chris - I have never thought of it that way, but the point is that you want the planes of your dome and base to be the same. You achieve that by closing your dome and with the nuts loose press down on your dome to make sure the dome and base are in contact - then tighten the nuts. But since you really are asking the amount of green ceramic showing then @shtgunal3 picture above answered your question!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

i never use the clips with that hinge design. i find it easier to remove the spings, sit everything flat, then pry the bands as far apart in the back with a screw driver in the back and tighten. then put the springs back on. its easy to pop the springs off while the dome is open.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
