Replacing wood on BGE table

I just acquired an older, used Lg. Egg with a weathered BGE table. The cooker is great but the table is rickety and needs some planks and other wood replaced. Does anyone know what kind of wood the BGE tables are made of and if there is a vendor for that wood?

Depending how far gone your table is it might be worth looking for secondhand BGE Nest for cheap. A side table would be nice and even better in stainless if you can find one. That way you don't have to worry about upkeep in the future.

Welcome and congrats on the new to you egg. Your wood is likely acacia. You can use any type of wood that holds up to the elements. Cedar and cypress are also popular.

thanks very much for your response. I plan on sanding it all down and staining with MinWax Helsman based on what I hear is kind of the standard, but didn't want it to highlight the patchwork I might do using a different kind of wood. Maybe I'm overthinking!!

Also, make sure you have an air gap between the bottom of the egg and the wooden table. A paver is not enough. BGE sells a table nest. The fire hazard is real.

I've read about that- the egg came with the green ceramic "feet" which does provide a bit of an air gap..I hope that is enough (?)!

I tend to be both a belt AND suspenders kind of guy when it comes to fire hazards so besides my green feet I have them sitting on a paver! =)
