SOUTH TAMPA CHARITY BBQ SATURDAY APRIL 6TH

Since 2017 I have flown to Florida in April to help a buddy host a charity BBQ for the South Tampa YMCA.  Covid cancelled a few years but we are back up and running and set for April 6th at noon at the South Tampa YMCA 4411 S. Himes Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33611.  On the menu will be brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, smoked chicken thighs, pork belly burnt ends, and Cuban Chug boats which is an offshoot of this recipe. https://www.nibblemethis.com/2017/05/jordans-drunk-pickles.html, along with tons of salads and burgers and dogs for the people who don't know good food. @thetrim has made annual celebrity appearances and has been a huge help.  If anyone is in the area, would love to see and meet you.  There just may be some beer available as well at the cooks station. LOL.

Great gesture right there. Way to help out. I'm sure it will be a winner for all.
From a timing perspective flying from Buffalo to Tampa would be a whole lot more appealing in the Jan-Feb time frame.   =)

Good on you, @BUFFALOMOOSE ! Will you be making those stuffed cherry pepper bomb things? They were mighty delicious.

And, did I read this right... @thetrim is (sort of) expected to make an appearance??

@lousubcap I hear ya on the Jan-Feb timeframe.  Probably too cold for the locals.

@caliking haven't made those cherry bombs in a while, but great idea for next year.  @thetrim is having/had knee surgery, so hopefully he can make an appearance, but in prior years has come and helped us out a lot.

Give us an after-action report if you can.  I'm sure it will be a great success.

It was an awesome event, and it's always great getting to spend a few hours with @BUFFALOMOOSE.

I have some pics that I can add, but someone else took the group pic. I only have pics of the smokers, some meat, and maybe one with the YMCA pilates instructor in the background....

@thetrim Thanks for surfacing here and providing great assistance for that fund raiser. Glad you are still engaged even if generally running submerged and undetected.  Be well!  Knee responding well??

Thanks for the pics.  Meteorite brisket with a great ring.
Some sweet looking reverse flow stick burners right there.

Sorry I couldn't make it, looks like a good time and I'm sure that everyone enjoyed the food. I hope they raised a good amount of $$.
Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Great pictures @thetrim. Here's 1 more with all the cooks.  Brother Trim wearing a brisket Camp T-shirt, me in the orange and my buddy and his son in law on the ends. We raised $11,250.  All of the money goes to a swimming lesson program for the kids at the YMCA. They are located in Hillsborough County which has one of the highest drowning rates for young children in the country.

Great outcome right there.  Awesome way to contribute to the community.
BTW- @BUFFALOMOOSE every Xmas season I remember you gifting the most impressive advent calendar I have ever seen.  That is the Vanguard of gifts for bourbon lovers right there.
