Direct/Indirect with Eggspander

So, on a whim, I just bought the 5 piece eggspander. I like the multi levels and the other available accessories. I do a lot of reverse sear steaks and was wondering if you can properly do reverse searing with a single half moon deflector then crank up the heat and do the searing by just moving the steaks to the other side with out reconfiguring for the sear.
Any other things suggestions for utilizing the expander are welcomed. Doing veggies at the same time as a protein etc..

I def like that! I guess to better word my question, is the half moon deflector enough to really do indirect

As long as it provides protection between the meat and fire it should be fine.Fort Wayne Indiana

For indirect cooking I now use the eggspander with the pizza stone instead of the convector especially for smoking ribs. It seems to diffuse the heat much better and I get more tender no wrap ribs in about 4+ hours.
