Ham for Thanksgiving questions

Do y’all order your hams on line or do you have any recommendations on a brand? What size will fit on a large egg. Finally… any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

I usually just get the spiral sliced ham from Costco and then heat and smoke it up a little on the egg and doctor up a baste and glaze for it.
    Love you bro!

carando or cooks from the supermarket or pick up an appleton farms from aldis. i tend not to buy the spirals but if i do i cook it sideways in juice and rotate the slices in the juice as it cooks. the aldis get picked over quick so you need to get it sooner than later. the aldis are cheap, usually a buck a pound. these three dont taste as salty as most commercial brands

    I've really enjoyed Harrington's corncob-smoked hams:

Been awhile since I last ordered one, however.

My wife does the full Honey Baked hams deal as well.   IF HEB has Prime Rib Roasts out by then I'll do one of those as well but otherwise I'll gladly let it be turnkeyed.    Between football and a couple birthdays Thanksgiving weekend we are always busy and I'd rather take it easy then cook too much.

Honey baked is hard to beat. Be warned that at least at my location the "prepared by" or "pick up" time is only a very rough estimate. It's ready when you get the email saying it's done.

Like fishless said I prefer Cook’s and never buy a spiral cut since I like to inject mine with maple syrup. Just remember these hams are precooked so all you are doing is reheating them.

There are some great ways to do a ham on the BGE. Egret's is posted above, and @Mickey 's is also simple and delicious. @Dyal_SC did one recently that looked stellar.

    NAKED HAM / SMOKE ONLY

Let me start that for the first  years i have only cooked Egerts Ham (this is an outstanding ham Egged on the BGE).

20 years ago went looking for (did not know this at the time) a naked ham / smoke only.  Looking at other ways to do a ham w/o the burbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, NO ANYTHING. Guys this was outstanding ham. It tasted like ham. It was a 7 lb Cooks ham (shank) and NOTHING was put on it (Nothing). Just smoke: lots of Sugar Maple wood. Cooked at 300 till 135. I did score the ham deep. Cooked indirect.

New item: just did spiral ham and turned out fine.

All good suggestions above. Kentucky Legend is a good choice also. Score the top in cross hatch pattern and smoke only or glaze toward the end.

I used to get the honey baked ham.  Started getting the Snake River Farms ham a couple years back.  No fancy glaze or spiral slice.  Just a great ham.  Their 25% off ham sale just ended last night.
