Lighting for Eggin' space

I have some LED string lights around the 12 x 26 canopy over my Egg and patio area. They are fine when cooking, but a little bright for sitting around afterwards with a glass or three of wine. I figured I could get a dimmer for them, but after an 'exhaustive' search on Amazon and the big box hardware stores, it seem that every switch is a 'smart' switch. And they all have bad reviews about breaking, changing settings, etc. I really just want a control knob that I can actually use by hand without going to an app! Old school. Something with a short plug and socket, or a unit that plugs into my extension cord. I'm thinking if this doesn't exist, I will just buy an indoor switch and jury rig some wiring, and keep it in a water resistant container. Any thoughts appreciated.
