But to ensure double protection, get someone other than the cook to empty the trash and sign a no disclosure deal.  B)

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

That's hilarious. That's so true. Napkin over the food on the way to the trash for good measure.

For 40+ years we held a subdivision annual picnic. We have 100+ homes so it wasn't some tiny affair, but that also meant some people had NO CLUE how to cook, much less follow some recipe they cut out of a magazine at the last minute!

I ALWAYs enjoyed filling my plate with spoonfuls of this and that which I thought looked good! BUT I also was smart enough to take 4 napkins so I could politely get rid of what was undoubtedly some HORRIBLE food!

  • My MIL lives with us.  She is peculiar.  One of her oddities is about food wasting.  If she notices someone didn’t eat something on their plate, that becomes the subject of her inquiries.  If she happens to like what you intended to dump, it will end up on her plate.  It’s hard to throw away food discretely with her around.

Wilma told me a story from her childhood.  One time they were doing a kitchen remodel.  The work crew left for the day and one of the guys left a small bag of chips that was half eaten.  She finished them.

I'm sure it goes back to her childhood. My parents grew up poor during the depression - if they even had food it certainly was not wasted!
