I live in southern Minnesota and have noticed we have lost most of the retailers who sell and support the Big Green Egg. Is this just one of the ebbs and flows in this area or is this in other areas also?

I live near two (one is an Ace). They are both continuing to sell and support the BGE community. There are others within an hour's drive or so, also. I haven't seen any changes.
Sorry to hear that.Clinton, Iowa -
We had Three in Mankato and now we have none

I'm in the Twin Cities and the place where I bought my Small is no longer a BGE dealer."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

We had 3 dealers - and one sponsored eggfests for 14 years - but all are gone now - ACE stores are all over this area! Not the same thing service-wise as a family owned business that's for sure!

Our area has maintained I feel. I know of no new dealers....
Maybe that's a good question to ask. Any new dealers in your area? We've had the same dealers for decades.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Agree with @RRP
We lost a very good BGE dealer that was fairly close. Now have to rely on Ace Hardware. And it’s been a real struggle dealing with Ace.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
My local Ace is a BGE dealer and sells all the accessories and there are other local dealers (I.e. fireplace store) that are also dealers here in the Chicagoland area.XL BGE

Our local Pinch-a-Penny pool supply store in Fl stopped carrying BGE. Owner said he couldn’t move stock enough after 5 or so years, to make it worth taking up the space. Also there is another dealer 2 miles down the road.

I bought my medium from a pool supply store that was discontinuing carrying big green egg. They were out in Detroit. The owner said that when Ace hardware started carrying them. He couldn't move enough product.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Our local pool store and a separate patio store stopped. We have a number of ACE hardwares with very extensive displays and inventory. The issue is, none of them have people with a lot of knowledge or passion. I have heard them misquoting the warranty a number of times (saying they have no warranty or only a few years). One store has a very good person, but she is rarely working.

I have a buddy who is a non-egger who like me is retired, but he works part time at one of the several local ACEs. While he is learning the proper answers from me when he is stumped he just gives people my phone number which is fine with me. Guess that makes me a hanger-on to the "golden years" when we were the unpaid employees spreading the word and our love of the BGE product via the numerous unsponsored Eggfests held around the country. But alas, those "golden years" are now long gone. -

FWIW, what's arguably the best bbq (not just BGE) dealer in my neck of the woods hired me PT after I retired from my day job, mainly for my BGE knowledge. It was fun working when you don't have to work.canuckland

The dynamics at play when a knowledgeable BGE owner is in a BGE dealer store is entertaining at a minimum. I routinely visit the local hardware store for stuff where I bought both BGE's several years ago.On two different occasions I have been there when a couple I knew walked in and began inquiring about the BGE. I started in with my "elevator pitch" and then the quick overview. Rolling along quite nicely. I even pimped the forum. I did let them know the "fire and forget" piece which is a strong point is after the serious prep work is correctly done. Then a sales guy decided it was time for him to make a move. So, he invites himself into the conversation. A minute or so in I ask him how long he has had a BGE and his favourite (nod) cook. He melts.I told each couple to give me a call once the deal is done as I would give them a few insights. Did get a call from each and both were happy. FWIW-No, I was not hired but those encounters are more than worth the time.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I also wonder if BGE is still selling any of the rubs which Chris created specifically for them or if that “marriage ended in a Dr BBQ style divorce” as well…

Although the BBQ business is as tough as ever for brick and mortar stores, we are enjoying our 20th year as a dedicated Big Green Egg store.
