Smobot Batteries

Can anyone provide info for a high capacity dumb battery for the Smobot?
The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

    @RajunCajun

    I just copied and pasted this out of my old controller manifesto.

    " I purchased a RAV Power Battery Supply Model RPB19 16750mAh battery off Amazon that will NOT auto shut off due to the low draw on power you experience with the Smobot.  I know I have done multiple brisket and butt cooks without ever recharging the RAV. "

    Very Respectfully.

    I bought this one back in 2019 for this purpose.  It still works and does not shut off powering the smobot:

    Thanks!  Smobot suggested this one and I purchased it and it shuts off after 10-15mins....evidently it is now a smart battery.

    And so, since this one worked for you and not me, I called Anker.  The tech support guy tells me that ALL of Anker batteries are smart, Anker manufactures no dumb batteries.

  • I have one like this or very close to this and it works great. It will run it forever.

    Ah that sucks.  I am responsible for that suggestion as I gave such information in the Smobot Facebook group back when I got it.  Too bad it has changed.

    I haven't used my Smobot in many moons so I don't know if this will help if one has a "smart" battery but it might.

    One of these USB testers plugged into the battery will constantly draw some current as the meter is constantly lit. Might be enough to prevent the battery from shutting itself off.

    Even if it doesn't solve the problem these things are useful to have around and they're only $10-$20.
