That looks like an add on but it is a griddle plate. My experience is with commercial griddles. Oldest stove company in US so I have seen and made thousands and the cast iron that was enameled never held up. I do believe the coatings today are better though

never see any griddle plates with porcelain coatings, wonder why
Used to never see enamel cast cookware, or rarely. I assume there may still be limitations or perhaps cost benefit analysis in play, but these things do exist. The Weber stuff is quite durable as I’ve not once heard of an issue in over ten years. They also successfully coat their kettles and gassers for decades. Pit Barrels are enameled now and used to be high heat paint. Technology is improving as should be expected. You know of anyone who’s had issues with their Weber enameled products? Anyone? Anyone outta the hundreds of thousands sold? Anyone? Not saying that there’s anything wrong with carbon steel or regular cast iron per se, but to make a blanket statement that they wouldn’t buy one that’s enamel coated is ignorant. Especially when I’m pretty sure their own product they brag about was likely coated. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣
I wasnt the one making those claims. I see no reason for the enamel other than cleaning

Yeah, that was intended as a replacement for a Blackstone griddle. There are a few makers that offer porcelain coated cast iron/steel replacement tops.

I'm not surprised that there are not likely any porcelain-ized griddle tops in the commercial sector. Doubt they would stand up to a Benihana style chef action. :)

On the residential side if one doesn't use and bang the surface with steel spatulas they should be fine. Just treat it like a nonstick skillet.

As @pgprescott has mentioned, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with porcelain coated cast iron. Le Creuset has been doing that for a hundred years.

Agreed and agreed. I see no reason to have a lawnmower except to cut the grass. 🤷🏼‍♂️

They don't make it like in the good old days. Collected few sets of 9mm stainless grids retired from 10-20yo Weber gassers that they outlasted. Just trimmed down a set to replace the cast iron in a newer Weber. Did the same for couple of Traegers and a Broil King.

Those look as though they’ve never seen a heat source. Nice!
