Moved here since sunk on the main board.  (Edit: The now sunk thread lasted 22 minutes before tanking-WTF?) BTW a very similar thread survived at the 45th anniversary mark.
There are many forum members who likely are not into horse racing but here is Secretariat running like never seen before or since.
What follows is a link to the greatest race horse of all-time completing the Triple Crown in 1973 (25 years since Citation):

BTW- Big Red still owns the track records for all three Triple Crown races.
In 1973 Secretariat graced the covers of Time, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek.  The charged atmosphere this country was experiencing at that time was very divisive across many issues.
Big Red was a source of commonality that all could get behind.  Truly remarkable and needed then.
A GOAT debate with no challengers!
Thank you for looking.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

@lousubcap - I was a youngster of 11 when this occurred.  Paternal grandfather was a big influence at that time, schooled me in the important 3P arts, poker/ponies/pool, so was up to speed on the happenings and remember them well.  GOAT is truly an understatement, thanks for sharing this.
*To add... always been able to hold my own at pool and poker, the ponies just never took and not for lack of effort. 🙂
